FAQ

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE WITH SEA KAYAKING ?

No previous experience with sea kayaking is required for most of our tours. However, some experience with sea kayaking are expected for our Greenland tours. Participants should be in good health, know how to swim and be over 18 years old.

WHAT EQUIPMENT ARE BEING USED ?

The kayaks are either tandem or singles. We use kayaks in both glassfiber & polyethylene material. They are comfortable, safe and easy to paddle. We supply all paddling gear. Our camping equipment includes quality tents such as bivouac for singles or two person tents for couples. Mattresses are provided. However, we recommend participants to bring their own sleeping bag. We provide stoves & group cooking equipment. Additional, if required, we bring underwater camera and fishing and snorkling equipment on our tours.

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE GROUP ?

The group size vary from 1 to 3 people. Small groups sizes of maximum 3 people ensures more attention to each participant. Also, it provides better security for the clients and makes less impact on sensitive beach environments. We believe, the best way to explore a wilderness trip by sea kayak is by travelling light and in small groups !

WHAT LANGUAGES DOES THE GUIDES SPEAK ?

Our guides are fluent in english, french and in scandinavian languages (danish, swedish, norwegian).

HOW MANY HOURS PER DAY WILL WE BE KAYAKING ?

Expect to be paddling between 3 to 6 hours per day, depending on the weather conditions. Some days we might paddle all day. Others, we paddle perhaps half the day and combine the other half with a hiking trip, exploring a wonderful beach, reading a book, snorkling or fishing in a quiet cove, visiting a historical area or exploring a century old seaside village.

WHAT IS THE PHOTO WORKSHOP ABOUT ?

Our guides are passionate about nature photography. This is a great opportunity for the participants to learn more about nature- and outdoor photography. The classes will be on the sea during the paddling and on various beaches along the trip. Participants gets an insight about travel photography, composition, natural light, tecnical aspects etc. Cameras and tripods are not povided for the workshop and participants should bring their own camera equipment together with a waterproof case/bag.

HOW ABOUT SAFETY ?

Safety is our first priority and therefore the participants might expect delays or even cancellations on an itinerary during the tour. Weather can change suddenly and our guides might therefore cancel any further progress on the tours. We carry a first aid kit, VHF marine radios, mobile phones and flares on all our tours. Our guides are trained in first aid situations as well and are certified by recognized organizations. Participants are being asked to bring a medical form and review/sign a waiver in the presence of their guide prior to the trip.
